Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose
Sodium Carboxymethylcellulose sod.CMC is mainly seen by conservators as an adhesive, characteristics which make it useful are, high viscosity in low concentrations, defoaming abilities, surfactant and bulking abilities. It is non toxic and non allergenic in humans.
Can be used as an adhesive, as a filler when mixed with Cellulose Powder CF11m, as a sizing agent and because of its surfactant properties it can be used as a detergent with no risk of abrading the paper.
